Update on Bailout Ramifications on Fuel Economy Standards
Update: As of December 10, the bailout package approved by the U.S. House of Representatives (but stalled with the Senate) no longer contains provisions stipulating that U.S. automakers must drop their opposition to state greenhouse emissions standards. Legislators took out this provision at the behest of the Bush administration. If California and joining states win the suit, these massive increases still could be possible.
