From the We-Coulda-Told-You-That Department: British study concludes that Maserati exhaust note gets women all revved up.

Italians know a thing or two about sex appeal—shocker!—with the latest evidence coming courtesy of a study conducted by British luxury-car insurer Hiscox, which concluded that women have a, uh,biological response after listening to the exhaust note of a Maserati V-8.

That's right, the study, during which participants listened to the recorded exhaust notes of "a variety of cars from exotics to economy models," found that its female participants—100 percent of them, in fact—really responded to the Maserati's scintillating thrum, exhibiting a measurable spike in testosterone after hearing the Maserati. No word, by the way, on whether the V-8 recording came courtesy of the 4.2-liter from the base GranTurismo and Quattroporte, or the 4.7-liter version found in the "S" variants.
